Dear Reader, As you know, January is one of the times of year when I sort out my plans and set supportive, joyful, uplifting intentions and goals. I love to support others to do the same. Everyone who teaches goal setting will tell you this: Make sure your goals are clear and specific. This is excellent advice. But today, I want to go a little “nontraditional” and give you my second best piece of advice: There are different types of goals. So, say for instance I want to write this year (as I know many of you do). This goal can be formulated in different ways. An identity goal: I am a writer A project goal: I will write my first book by the end of the year A habit goal: I will write for 15 minutes every day when I first wake up Now each of these types of goals needs different things to be achieved but they are all getting at the same thing. Overcoming your fear, and doing the thing that you want to do. Normally we have a preference based on our personality, our values, how we motivate ourselves, what type of year it is for us, and a bunch of other stuff. Knowing which one of these goals is going to support you might be a bit trial and error, but guess what? You can change your mind if it's not working and formulate it differently. This has been game changing for my clients over the years. We often inherit a need to make everything SMART from the business world, but guess what? You are not a business my friend. You are a full, wild & free person and you get to learn & choose what supports you. OK. That's my second biggest tip for goal setting. I hope it helps with the start of 2025. With love, ~ Rosie Farrer P.s. Really want to take this advice and run with it? I'm just about to send out the goal setting tools to the Design Your Year people. It's not too late to join and get the recording of the first workshop, goal setting tools, and access to the accountability call at the end of the month. And I'm on hand to answer any questions at any point. Find out more here. |
Hello Reader, I don't know about you but January is absolutely kicking my ass this year. It's always a busy time for me, but this year I thought I'd got a handle on it. (I had not) Because sometimes life just happens. You can't control it and you have to ride with it, rather than rail against it. For me, that has meant reprioritising so I can pick up the work of one of my team members while they are off dealing with a bereavement. And honestly, I'm really glad I'm able to do that, to give...
Hello lovely Reader. Well.We made it. The end of the year has arrived...somehow. Hey Reader. Holy guacamole, it's December my friend and according to a quick calculation I just did there are 26 days left in 2025. People keep asking me if I'm running Design Your Year again. The answer to this is a big fat YES! This intention setting to the community is the backbone to my year, and I know it's the same for many of you. So, just to reassure that the reason I haven't sent you any comms about it is not because it's not happening. But because I've been spending way too long on...
